A Palm Beach County woman is suing Boca Raton Regional Hospital and its operator, Baptist Health South Florida, over injuries she says she suffered from a slippery floor on the hospital’s property.

Rochelle Ackner filed the negligence lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. According to the complaint, she was lawfully on the hospital grounds at 690 Meadows Road on Oct. 10, 2022, when the floor condition caused her injuries. The filing came two days short of the four-year anniversary of the incident. The complaint does not say where inside the hospital the fall happened or why Ackner was there.

The suit argues that both defendants knew or should have known about the hazard through reasonable inspections or past similar incidents, and failed to fix it or warn visitors. It also claims they either lacked a regular inspection procedure or did not follow the one they had.

Ackner says she hurt her left hip, left leg and back. She describes ongoing pain, medical bills and lost earnings. She is seeking more than $50,000 in damages and has requested a jury trial. Fort Lauderdale attorney Anthony H. Quackenbush of The Quackenbush Law Firm represents her.

These are allegations in a civil filing, and the claims have not been tested in court.
