Registration is open for Tamarac’s annual Turkey Trot 5K, which returns Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 26. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. near Tamarac City Hall at 7525 NW 88th Ave. Runners and walkers of all abilities may sign up.

Entry costs $30 through Oct. 30, $35 from Oct. 31 through Nov. 17, and $40 from Nov. 18 through Nov. 25, as long as spots remain. There will be no race-day registration. The first 2,000 registrants get a commemorative 2026 T-shirt, and everyone who finishes while wearing a race bib receives a medal.

The morning includes a pre-race stretch session and live music, followed by food, refreshments, merchandise vendors and giveaways. Trophies go to the top three overall male and female finishers and to age group winners.

The course starts at Northwest 77th Street and Pine Island Road and loops through several neighborhood streets before finishing back at Pine Island Road. Roads on the route will be closed from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m., so drivers in the area should plan around the closures.

Race packets can be picked up at City Hall from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 23 through Nov. 25, or starting at 6:30 a.m. on race day. Parking at City Hall is limited, so the city is offering a free shuttle from the Tamarac Walmart Neighborhood Market, 6931 NW 88th Ave. Registration is available at Tamarac.gov/TurkeyTrot.
