Gentilhomme leads Coral Springs-area boys at BCAA cross-country meet

Coral Springs High's Marcus Gentilhomme finished seventh and led the area's boys at the BCAA Championship Meet at Markham Park.

Coral Springs High senior Marcus Gentilhomme finished seventh and led all Coral Springs-area boys at the Broward County Athletic Association championship meet at Markham Park on October 9.

“I ran well today, but it was a hard run,” Gentilhomme said.

Jahree Pierre of J.P. Taravella was 13th. Coral Glades runners Fabio Castillo and Giovanni Guevara finished 18th and 24th. In the team standings, Coral Glades placed sixth, Taravella was seventh and Marjory Stoneman Douglas took eighth.

On the girls’ side, Coral Springs Charter finished fourth and Taravella was fifth. Camila Castillo of Taravella led the area girls in sixth place, with Lily Richardson of Coral Springs Charter seventh and Coral Springs High’s Olivia Higgins ninth. Marjory Stoneman Douglas finished sixth as a team.

Coral Glades coach Frankie Cunningham said his team ran well and continues to improve. Taravella coach Dawn Spann said her runners need to push harder when they tire during a race and that the team should be doing better.
